Take Care of Today

A well-taken care of today will pave the way for a well-taken care of tomorrow. Worrying about the world of tomorrow will spoil your present day world. Rather, think about what you're doing right now and see if it’s beneficial to you, everybody, and to the world.

“What is the best way to deal with anger? Question yourself, ‘Why am I angry?’ You’ll soon realize: ‘Because the other guy did not act the way I wanted.’ You wanted something, and you didn’t get it, so you are angry. The cause for your anger is your wanting something. If you accept people as they are, you won’t get angry. You are the cause for your anger. Does that anger help you? No, it affects your health. Accept people as they are; they are all at different levels of growth. One day, slowly, they will grow.

Enjoy the Life

“There’s always a bright side to everything. Life is always up and down. Accept this and you won’t be bothered by it. If you keep the mind free from fear, it gives you a special strength. Nobody knows how long he or she will be here on this earth. Anytime, we may say goodbye. Within that time, enjoy the life.

Love Yourself

“Begin to love yourself. You have to find the peace within you. If you recognize the peace and joy within, then, you’ll be able to give the same to everyone. Actually, you’re not really giving that peace and joy, you’re helping them to find their own peace and joy. First, find it within yourself, because everything begins at home. There is a proverb: ‘Charity begins at home.’ But I would say everything begins at home. If you have joy, you give joy to others by your very presence and example.

Clean Thoughts, Calm Mind

“When the mind becomes calm, nothing is impossible. But, it’s impossible to calm the mind unless it is clean. A clean mind could be calmed easily, so clean the mind. What makes the mind dirty? All the dirty thoughts make the mind dirty because the mind is nothing but a bunch of thoughts. When the thoughts are clean, the mind is clean. When the thoughts are ugly with jealousy, hatred, or vengeance, it’s a dirty mind that thinks and becomes those thoughts. And the dirty mind makes a dirty body. So everything that you think is also transferred to the body. So, keep the mind, body, and senses clean."

దివ్య దృష్టి - స్వామి సచ్చిదానంద సూక్తి

Divine Vision

The real world is in you; everything else is outside. So if you recognize the peace in you, then, wherever you go, you will see that peace. Until that time, you depend on something other than you, outside of you, but you cannot depend on the outside world always. You should try to find that inner world. Look within. If you don’t see the divine in you, as you, you won’t be able to see it outside. You have to have that divine vision, because it is you who sees the world outside. You see it the way you think.

Want Not, Waste Not

The minute you want something, you miss the joy. Who is the most joyful person? The one who doesn’t want anything. That’s why the proverb goes, ‘Want not, waste not.’ Don’t waste your life by wanting external things. Instead of your wanting the wants, let the wants want you. When will the wants want you? When you don’t want anything. Seek the kingdom within you. When you realize that, you won’t want anything else, then, everything will want you.

The Monkey Mind

“The mind wants to control you; it is always moving, changing. It’s like a wild monkey running here and there. Imagine the condition of the mind. How on earth are you going to quiet the mind? It’s impossible. The mind says, ‘I am the boss.’ You say, ‘No, I want to be the boss.’ So the mind will put all the obstacles in front of your spiritual practices—all kinds of excuses and reasons for you not to practice. This is all the mind’s trick. So, leave it alone and watch the show. Don’t give up, keep up a steady practice and certainly one day you will achieve the goal. And when you achieve the goal, you will be very happy and also, very proud of your mind.

“God bless you. Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.”

Seek the Truth

Adversities are blessings in disguise. Who will enjoy the food well? The one who is really hungry. So make yourself hungry, thirsty for the Truth. If you yourself don’t do that, the nature, the world, will make you hungry. The purpose of the nature is to give you all the problems. That’s why the material world never makes you happy. It always creates problems. It’s telling you, ‘I can’t make you happy always. Temporarily yes, for a little while, you can be happy with your possessions, with your name, with your fame, with your wealth. But they cannot make you happy always.’ If you want permanent happiness, seek the Truth.

Meditation Medication

Meditation is to calm the mind, to bring the mind together. If you are already restful and peaceful, why do you need meditation? Meditation is a sort of medication. So, if you feel any disturbance in the mind, try to calm down the mind by practicing meditation. Don’t get disappointed if you can’t meditate right away. Nothing is achieved overnight. When did you learn to walk or run? From the beginning? No. When you were a baby, you couldn’t even stand up, you couldn’t even crawl. Then you gradually learned to crawl, and walk, and run. Meditation is also like that.

నిస్వార్ధ సేవ- స్వామి సచ్చిదానంద సూక్తి

Keep this in mind: ‘I am here to serve; I am doing everything to serve others.’ Why are you eating? Not to develop biceps and triceps; you’re eating to gain enough energy to serve others. Why are you going to sleep? You are tired, you can’t serve unless you rest well and then get up fresh to serve others. The goal is, ‘I am preparing myself to serve others.’ Whatever you do, serving should be your ultimate goal.

ఒక ఆటగా జీవితం- స్వామి సచ్చిదానంద బోధ

Life as a Game

Really healthy people take everything in life as a game. Whether they win or lose, it’s still a game. Often people forget that. In a way, I feel that losing is a better game. Why? When the other person wins, what do you see? A winning face. When you win and the other person loses, what do you see? A losing face. There is great joy in losing and seeing the other person win and have a happy face. Who will be the happiest person? The one who brings happiness to others. That means our minds should be well-balanced under all conditions. That is Yoga.

People are of different natures and different levels in their evolution. So they behave according to their nature. If someone hurts you, feel pity for them. If you can, help them not to continue that. Your getting upset doesn’t bring any benefit to anybody. On the other hand, if you harbor the hurt feeling you are allowing the poison to go into your system and affect you. Suppose somebody uses a bad word to abuse you. It is just a word. They didn’t hurt you, you got hurt by allowing that to come into your system. Remember that.

ఎవరెస్ట్ ఎక్కడం- స్వామి సచ్చిదానంద బోధ

Climbing Everest

“Wherever you are, whatever you do, have discipline in your life. When you want a big reward, you have to pay a big price. Even for a few minutes of ego gratification, like climbing to the top of a mountain, so much effort is needed. How many months of great difficulties will you have to undergo to attain such a goal? At last, you stand at the top, plant your flag and say, ‘I conquered Everest.’ In spiritual life, however, once you get to the top, you have reached Ever-rest. You do rest there, and you won’t have to come down. You can even pull others up, as well. But there are no shortcuts. A great price must be paid to reach that great goal. What is that price? Leading a selfless life.

You will enjoy the world when you know how to handle it well, when you become the master of it. Who is the person who enjoys eating? The one who eats well, chews well, digests well, and assimilates well—not the one who eats for the sake of the tongue, overloads the stomach, and then use purgatives. So learn how to live a balanced life and you will enjoy the world.

The Signs of Real Health

What is the sign of a healthy person? Such a person is happy anywhere. He or she is relaxed everywhere—always at ease and in peace, within and without. A healthy person hates no one, dislikes nothing. Total love, universal love emanates from within. There is no tension anywhere, no stress, or friction. These are the signs of real health.

యోగ లక్ష్యం- స్వామి సచ్చిదానంద సూక్తి

The Aim of Yoga

If your friends laugh at you and say, ‘With Yoga you are just running away from the world; you are not going to enjoy anything,’ tell them, ‘We are the people who are going to enjoy it best because we are working to bring everything under our control. We don’t want to be controlled by anything. We want to be masters of our tongues and our eyes. We won’t be slaves to our desires.’ This is the aim of Yoga.

Overcoming Health Issues

You must never give up. You can face any situation and overcome it with hope, courage, faith, and fearlessness. Resolve that: I am the master of the creation and I will be the master of the destruction. I am not afraid of disease. I am not going to be frightened of this anymore, because I created the problem and I can undo the problem. Believe that you can draw healing energy from the divine by clean living. Resolve: I have total faith in a higher will—a higher energy. By my clean habits, I will be able to tune into that and receive all the strength and energy to recharge my system.

Self-mastery

Many people fear that discipline means a lack of freedom, a repressed or joyless life. But imagine that you are tied to the saddle of a galloping horse, clinging for your life, hoping somehow the horse might feel sympathy and stop. Is that enjoyment? That is the situation when we do not have discipline over our minds. The person who really enjoys horseback riding is the one who controls the horse, who can stop whenever he or she wants.

Assert Your Real Nature

Know that you are the true Self and you are not the mind that always changes, which gets into moods. Realize you are the Self. The Self understands equanimity. Even though the other part of the mind gets into different moods and feelings, you are not tainted by that. You know that is the nature of the mind and you can say, ‘Okay, today my mind is happy. Tomorrow it will be unhappy. Fine.’ See? You won’t identify yourself with that. You treat the mind as a separate entity, all the time asserting your real nature as the true Self.
